Book Review/Recommendation: Tropical Depression by Patti Liszkay

Updated: Aug 16, 2023

Tropical Depression is an immersive triumphant family saga blending cultural diversity, familial tension and the power of love, bringing tears of joy and sadness to a shocking climax. Ten Stars! It is by far one of the best books I’ve read in years. Patti Liszkay’s amazing writing quickly immersed me into the story, placing me smack dab into the Nicaraguan foothills of three active volcanos where the main characters, Ascension and Lupe’s large family lives and works. Tropical Depression is an emotional roller coaster that will leave you breathless, make you cry, and make you cheer for the underdog and be ever so grateful for their ultimate happiness. (no spoilers) But I was caught up in the crisis at the climax of the story so much that I just couldn’t stop reading…until 3am and my eyes were bleary. This is the third installment to Liszkay’s The Equal and Opposite Reactions Trilogy. I haven’t read the first two books, but I plan to.

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Family Saga
